The Garden of Forking Paths tells the fictional story of Yu Tsun, the narrator and a Chinese Spy currently on the run from a man named Captain Richard Madden. The story outlines his journey while filling in gaps in his past along the way.
The short story relates to our current assignment through its talk of a labyrinth. Yu Tsun’s ancestor, Ts’ui Pen, was said to have had a mission of completing a labyrinth in his lifetime, but the maze was yet to be discovered. As we read the story, we learn that the labyrinth was actually in the form of a book described as infinite. At the time, no one suspected the book itself to be the maze because this was an unknown concept.
For this assignment, we have been tasked with creating a maze-like website without obvious navigation. This directly relates to The Garden of the Forking Paths because we are talking about creating a labyrinth in an unexpected medium.
